My name is Matt Zielich and I am the Student Ministry pastor at McDowell Mountain Community Church in Scottsdale, AZ. I began my time at MMCC in January of 2014 after leaving Lexington, Kentucky where I did youth ministry at Eastland Church of God from 2010-2013. I graduated from Anderson University where I pursued a degree in Biblical Studies and Christian Ministry. I felt called to full time youth ministry when I was young living in Aurora, CO with my family. When I became a freshman in high school we moved to Cincinnati, OH where I got plugged into an amazing youth group and began to understand how God was leading me.
I met my wife, Leah, while I was a student at AU. I guess you could say she couldn’t resist my charm and we got married right after I graduated. I have the privilege to work alongside of her in ministry as we fulfill our calling to disciple and mentor middle and high school students. She is without a doubt my best friend and greatest support. In addition, she makes the greatest meatloaf known to earth. Most of my time outside of church is spent trying to impress her and make her laugh. I’m fairly good at it.
In general I am passionate about learning, fitness, movies, my dog Ollie, camping/hiking, traveling, cooking, Madden, the Cincinnati Bengals, Star Wars, and candy. Fun fact: I play several games of chess everyday. I absolutely love Arizona and I am so excited to be a part of what God is doing out here!
